Ok, beyond the obvious mess that this is, lets look at several “feng shui reasons” why this is a bad scenario for your bookshelves.
1. the abundant piles of stuff rob the room of earth energy & metal energy, the elements that help to ground and focus
2. everything is yang. too much yang: loud, stimulating, active.  for someone, creating this chaos display is a way of creating a louder voice which they may not have in life.  decrease the too much yang, increase the stability of earth and your voice may become louder in our waking life.
3. the feeling that there is no room to breathe for the books may compound the dusty, allergy-prone ethos of this bookcase.
and 4. you know, all this jamming and piling: it is just not attractive! xx Dana
